8. What information is included in an AGL jewelry appraisal?
An Alpha Gem Lab report initially states the intended use of the appraisal, and the approach to valuation used for the assignment. The heart of the report (analysis page) will provide the clients name, address, date, and report number. A verbal description and digital color photograph of each item are included. A further description of each item will include a breakdown of the piece of jewelry into its component parts: feature stone, accent stones and mounting. Component parts are then described in their entirety: type of stone, measurements, carat weight, cut, clarity, color, proportions, plot of any inclusions (feature diamonds only), metal content, metal weight, method of manufacture, and trademarks. Each item is listed with its appraised value. For appraisals of multiple items, a cumulative total is then given.
